Finding the way

Probably the largest expense of a skiing/walking expedition across Norway is the cost of maps. Simply due to the distance covered, as well as the somewhat illogical division of the Norwegian topographic maps, the quantity of the maps fills up a whole carpet at home. In addition, I have acquired the GPS maps covering the planned route, though I presume a strategy of simply heading north will be appropriate at most times.

Getting fatty on Pemmikan

In preparation for the tour, I've recently purchased a bunch of Pemmikan packages from Winfried Hermanns at Cathay.de, thanks again!. Everybody who has read books on the polar adventures of Amundsen, Nansen or Shackelton has undoubtedly come across Pemmikan before. This mixture of fat and protein is a fantastic and tasty addition to my planned diet on the trip. And with the wide range of tastes, from garlic to onion to fruit I will be spoiled for choice when it comes to Pemmikan.
