Hmmm, trip time is fast approaching. Soon I head out, together with my mum Jitka, on the first part of the trip. Apart from getting all the gear ready, food organised and depots contacted, I figured it'd be a good idea to know which way to go. So I googled it, and found out that the best way of walking from Lindesnes to Nordkapp is via Denmark, takes a little over 17 days and otherwise more or less follows the E6 highway. Damn it, if I knew this could be so easy I could have done it over the Christmas holidays :)Ok, so I used Google Earth and the Garmin topo maps instead, and finally settled on an approximate plan of action, involving the following legs:
Leg01_Lindesnes_Ljøsland
Leg02_Ljøsland_Haukeliseter
Leg03_Haukeliseter_Finse_Tyinkrysset
Leg04_Tyinkrysset_Kvam_Folldal
Leg05_Folldal_to_Teveltunet
Leg06_Teveltunet_to_Nordli (via Sweden)
Leg07_Nordli_to_Hattfjelldal
Leg08_Hattfjelldal_to_Sulitjelma
Leg09_Sulitjelma_to_Abisko
Leg10_Abisko_to_Kautokeino (via Kilpis)
Leg11_Kautokeino_to_Skaidi
Leg12_E6_to_Knivskjeodden
I'll post these on the web for those of you wanting to visit me/us/them/it someplace. It's best to check out the online route section though, that will, thanks to a tracking device from Guardian Mobility, be updated in near real-time. And with the fantastic mapping work and coding done by my father Martin in the Saudi-Arabian desert this will be the most dynamic part of the website. Almost better than disney.com :)
Almost forgot, start date is set at 25th of January, from Lindesnes. And this Friday is a party at my place, just in case anyone's in the neighbourhood.
Until next time,
Kim (-9 degrees outside, +21.5 degrees inside)
